Surge current
A large electric current, many times the normal running current, which is drawn for a short duration, when power is first applied, by capacitive loads, motors, and temperature-dependent resistive loads such as incandescent lights, and resistive heating elements of nichrome, tungsten, or molybdenum. It usually lasts no more than a few tens or hundreds of milliseconds.
