Definition of Olanzapine

Olanzapine (Zyprexa, Zyprexa Zydis, or in combination with fluoxetine Symbyax) is an atypical antipsychotic, approved by the FDA in 1996 for the treatment of schizophrenia, acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder, acute agitation associated with both these disorders, maintenance treatment in bipolar disorder, and, as the Symbyax formulation, for the treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder.
