The Vorlon Dreadnought is one of the most powerful ship, only matched by the Vorlon Planetkiller, the Shadow Planetkiller and the Battleships of the First-Ones. Like all Vorlon ships, the Dreadnought is some kind of lifeform. The Dreadnought is quite slow and sluggish compared to the Shadow Battlecraband therefore depends on a fighter escort that protects the ship. The firepower of the ship is extremely high, even compared to a Shadow Battlecrab.
Even a single Vorlon Transport can kill a Battlecrab and it should be no problem for the Dreadnought to destroy such a Battlecrab in a head to head fight. The real power of the Vorlon ships was discovered when they ambushed a Shadow armada in 2260. All Shadow vessels were destroyed with virtually no losses to the Vorlons with only one Dreadnought slightly damaged leaving the battle scene.
The biggest number of Vorlon Dreadnoughts was seen in action in 2261 when the Vorlons and the Shadowsfought against each other in the Coriana system. Hundreds of ships were fighting on both sides, with Sheridan's Army of Light forces trapped in the middle.
All of the remaining First-Ones and their vessels left the galaxy and went beyond the rim after the encounter at Coriana 6.
Dreadnought Definition from Encyclopedia Dictionaries & Glossaries
The dreadnought was the predominant type of battleship in the early 20th-century. The first of the kind, the Royal Navy's , had such an impact when launched in 1906 that similar battleships built after her were referred to as "dreadnoughts", and earlier battleships became known as pre-dreadnoughts. Her design had two revolutionary features: an "all-big-gun" armament scheme and steam turbine propulsion. The arrival of the dreadnoughts renewed the naval arms race, principally between the United Kingdom and Germany but reflected worldwide, as the new class of warships became a crucial symbol of national power.
