Dome / GWCC / Philips Arena / CNN Center is an at-grade rail station on the Blue and Green lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. As the station name suggests, the station provides service to the Georgia Dome, the Georgia World Congress Center, Philips Arena, and the CNN Center. Access is also provided to the Omni and Glenn hotels, Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Tower, and the World of Coca-Cola at Pemberton Place. When the station first opened in 1979, it was called Omni station due to its proximity to the now-demolished Omni Coliseum. This station has the most fare gates and escalators to handle the crowds for events at the Philips Arena, Georgia World Congress Center and Georgia Dome. And like Airport and Five Point stations, there are separate gates for exit and entry. The station was officially opened on December 22, 1979. Because of its direct location to this heavily dense area it is one of the few stations to not provide direct bus service, however bus service is provided at Five Points or along the streets surrounding the station.
