CLAPPER
The internal moving part, the "tongue" of a check valve that permits a liquid or gas to I low in one direction only in a pipeline. Like a trap door, the cheek-valve clapper works on a hinge attached to the body of the valve. When at rest the clapper is a few degrees off the vertical or, as in certain valves, completely horizontal.
