Definition of Aquifer (unconfined)

AQUIFER, UNCONFINED
An Aquifer made up of loose material, such as sand or gravel, that has not undergone lithification (settling). In an unconfined aquifer the upper boundary is the top of the Zone of Saturation (water table).
