Antebellum or ante-bellum (literally, Latin for "before the war",) may refer to any pre-war, but usually refers to:
- The era in the Southern United States preceding the Civil War and the culture of that era. Specifically, the era in the history of the Southern United States after the establishment of the U.S. as a sovereign nation, but before the U.S. Civil War. There is disagreement over the starting and ending dates.
- The same era in the United States in general, i.e. the South and the North
