Yasmin Ratansi
Yasmin Ratansi (born January 41951) is a Canadian MP (member of parliament), who represents the riding of Don Valley East in the Canadian House of Commons. She is a member of the Liberal Party. Ratansi is an Ismaili, and is the first Muslim woman elected to the Canadian House of Commons.

Born in Dar es SalaamTanzania, before being elected to the House, Ratansi worked as a management consultant and a certified general accountant.

Ratansi was the federal Liberal candidate for Don Valley East in 1988, and came within a narrow margin of defeating Conservative incumbent Alan Redway. She served on the party's federal campaign committee in 1992 and was treasurer of the party's Ontario wing from 1993 to 1997. During the 39th parliament, Yasmin Ratansi was elected the chair of the standing committee on the status of Women. Furthermore, she was elected vice-chair of the standing committee on laison. Prior to this she served as the Official Opposition's Critic for National Revenue. Upon the election of Stephane Dion as the leader of the Liberal party, she was given the responsibility of becoming a member of the opposition committee, "Canada and the World"
