WIMP
Short for Windows, Icons, Menus and Pointing device, the type of user interface made famous by the Macintosh computer and later imitated by the Windows operating systems. Most people now use the term GUI (graphical user interface) to refer to this type of interface, but it's important to note that when the first GUIs were invented in the 1970s, WIMP was just one possible variation. In those days, it was called a WIMP GUI.

WIMP
This article is about the hypothetical class of particles. For other uses of the term, see wimp (disambiguation).
In astrophysics, weakly interacting massive particles, or WIMPs, are hypothetical particles serving as one possible solution to the dark matter problem. These particles interact through the weak nuclear force and gravity, and possibly through other interactions no stronger than the weak force. Because they do not interact with electromagnetism they cannot be seen directly, and because they do not interact with the strong nuclear force they do not react strongly with atomic nuclei.

Wimp
Wimp may refer to:
  • A physical or emotional weakling. This informal term was the inspiration for the radio character Wallace Wimple (of the Fibber McGee and Molly show) and the phrase Mush from the Wimp. It is not, however, believed to have been the source for the name Wimpy, the Popeye character.
  • Saint Veep, a Cornish saint
