T-cell
A white blood cell made in the thymus gland, a lymphoid structure in the upper chest. (The T in T-cell stands for Thymus). The T-cells coordinate the immune system by secreting lymphokine hormones. There are 3 fundamentally different types of T cells : helper, killer, and suppressor. Each has many subdivisions. T-cells are also called T lymphocytes.

t-cell
a white blood cell derived from the thymus that contributes to the cell-mediated immune response. There are 3 major types of T-cells: T-helper (CD4 cells), T-suppressor (CD8 cells) and T-killer (cytotoxic T-lymphocytes or CTL). Contrast with B-cell.

T Cell
Lymphocytes that are produced in the bone marrow and mature in the thymus. Responsible for mediating the second branch of the immune system called "cellular immune response." T cells can live for months to years. This lymphocyte population is defined by the presence of a rearranged T-cell receptor

T-cell
a type of lymphocyte. T cells have T-cell receptors and, sometimes, co-stimulatory molecules on their cell surfaces. The T cell helps to orchestrate the immune system and can issue "orders" for other cells to make cytokines and chemokines.

T cell
T cells belong to a group of white blood cells known as lymphocytes and play a central role in cell-mediated immunity. They can be distinguished from other lymphocyte types, such as B cells and NK cells by the presence of a special receptor on their cell surface that is called the T cell receptor (TCR). The abbreviation "T", in T cell, stands for thymus since it is the principal organ for their development.
