Particle accelerator
A machine, usually very large, which accelerates charged particles in electric fields to relativistic speeds. Magnetic fields are employed to constrain the moving particles to required paths. The particles are targetted to collide with other particles and the results of the ensuing nuclear reactions are recorded using devices such as bubble chambers. The results help scientists to understand high energy physics (for instance cosmic rays) and the conditions which were present in the early universe.

Particle accelerator
A particle accelerator is a device that uses electric fields to propel electrically charged particles to high speeds and to contain them. An ordinary CRT television set is a simple form of accelerator. There are two basic types: linear (i.e. straight-line) accelerators and circular (i.e. circles) accelerators.
