Friar John Cor of Dunfermline, Fife. Monk of Lindores Abbey, first person who applied, in Scotland, for a license to distil "eight bolls of barley malt in Aqua Vitae for King James IV", in 1494 (Uisge Beatha in Gaelic), known as Whisky today.
