Haar
There are several meanings of Haar:
- Haar, Bavaria, a municipality near Munich, Germany
- a Hungarian mathematician named Alfred Haar (1885 - 1933). He has the Haar wavelet, and a set-theoretic measure, the Haar measure, named after him
- Haar-like features (so called because they are computed similar to the coefficients in Haar wavelet transforms)
- a Scots word for the fog or sea mist occurring along the east coast of Scotland
- Often a type of calling technique used in early cultures to indicate distress, or need. The sound is made verbally, and sounds like a hollow, short, rasp - 'Haar'.
- German, Dutch word for Hair.
