Winning all that's on offer in a sports competition, e.g. all the tricks in a game of bridge or the Australian, French, US and Wimbledon (UK) tennis competitions.
Origin
The term originated in the game of bridge, where the winning of all thirteen tricks in one hand is a grand slam. It is most widely known nowadays as the name for the feat of winning all the four major tennis competitions in one year. It originated in that context in a comment made in 1938 by the [male] American journalist Allison Danzig. He was referring to the acheivement by the Australian Donald Budge who won all that season's official tennis competitions.
