Definition of Console role-playing game

A console role-playing game (often abbreviated CRPG) is a video game genre  that has its origin rooted in video game consoles and includes game mechanics and settings derived from those of traditional role-playing games. The term also applies to role-playing video games on handheld video game systems such as the Nintendo DS and PSP.
