Audimeter
an electronic device to record which particular television channel is tuned to by a household; marketing research firms use audimeters attached to a sample of TV sets to measure national exposure to TV advertisements; commonly referred to as a "peoplemeter" or "black box". a mechanical instrument or device for monitoring television usage and program choice (for ratings surveys, etc); colloquially called a people-meter or black box. See Single Source Data.
