Definition of Association of african universities

The Association of African Universities was established in 1967 to facilitate co-operation between its members and with the international academic community. It is based in Accra, Ghana. In June 2005, it had 185 members from 44 African countries. However only 111 of those members were "in good standing" (subscription less than 3 years in arrears).
