Amniotic band syndrome
Amniotic band syndrome (ABS, also called amniotic band constriction, congenital constriction bands or rings, ADAM (amniotic deformity adhesions mutilations)) is a congenital disorder caused by entrapment of fetal parts (usually a limb or digits) in fibrous amniotic bands while in utero. Sideshow performer Jeanie Tomaini (nee Bernice Smith) had congenitally absent legs (congenital amputation), and deformed arms (dysmelia), due to ABS.
