American Association of Individual Investors
The American Association of Individual Investors is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to educate individual investors regarding stock market portolios, financial planning, and retirement accounts.

The organization was founded by Dr. James Cloonan, Ph.D. in 1978. Over the last thirty years, the organization has grown to a membership of approximately 150,000 and consistently reports higher average investment returns than the S&P 500. According to Cloonan, "AAII's purpose is to assist individuals in becoming effective managers of their own assets through programs of education, information and research."
